15 Aug 2011 Ray, Canada:
I am on my bike and always spend a few days here, no matter what the rest of my itenerary is. this is one of the most splendid locations for bike rides. The Alpilles, the Camargue, and teh region north of Arles right into Avignon, St-Remy de Provence, and a host of smaller towns that are great coffee stops abound. |

15 Aug 2011 Ray, Canada:
If travelling by bike, Sete can be reached via the camargues (120 km), Nimes is a lovely 35 km ride, Tarascon is in the next town (also a good stopover for cyclists). Marseilles is 90 km do-able in a day, but not sure I want to do that ride. I have tried to ride to cassis, but at 135 km in the heat, I would not do that again. I have ridden to Aix-en-Provence (90 km) and taken the train to Saint-Raphael and that worked very nicely. |
