Head for Trg Republike where you'll find the Maxi department store. In the covered shopping mall near the entrance to the Cankarjev Dom Concert Hall and Arts Centre you'll find a large self-service restaurant (open 'till 7pm) that is excellent value for money.

The Skocjanske Jame. UNESCO World Heritage Site of karstic landscape including an outstanding system of caves which can be visited with a guided tour (Students and Seniors EUR 11). Take the train to Divaca and follow the way-marked path from the station to the caves (about 1 hour's walk). The Gostilna Malovec in Divaca has some reasonably priced rooms and an outstanding restaurant (next to the butcher's shop!) serving delicious traditional Slovenian food.
