Any of the the Shinto Shrines and Buddhist temples and their gardens amongst the hills and forests on the eastern edge of town. Personally thought the Golden Pavillion - Kinkaju - not worth the effort. The magnificent Kyoto Station is worth a look over. Modern architecture at its most dazzling. |

Fushimi Inari shrine (many, many red tori gates, very beautiful) easy to get to on the train. Also Ohara - beautiful temple complex, easy to get to on the bus. |

Unlimited breakfast buffet (Japanese and Western style) up the road at the Westin Hotel. Children are half price. We did not need to buy any lunch after having breakfast there! |
