one day rent a bike, another day rent a scooter, this way you can discover also the far off places in the park but still have a sportive experience and can really enjoy the park |

Taroko National Park Headquarters and Visitor Center are nearby. Don't miss Shakadang Trail, Swallow Grotto Trail, Tunnel of Nine Turns Trail. Views are breath taking and not hard to walk. Watch out for snakes and insects; they are literally everywhere. And if you are trekking in the odd times, night or early morning, you surely will encounter them, like we did. Buluowan Trails are waste of time. This town itself has bike rental options. Buses run at an average frequency of every 90 minutes. You may not want to wait so long to move around. Particularly, if you want to cover a lot of area, bus is clearly not an option. In a single day, we wasted around 4 hours waiting for the bus on all stops cumulatively. There are some trails, which require prior application and approval process. We were foreign travelers, with little time. So the open trails were more than sufficient for us. |

The town in which hostel resides is mostly silent, except the unstoppable sound of crickets and sparrows. For night life, better reach for Hualien. |
