Lulu's. From the hostel, go to the beach, then turn left. Keep walking for about 5 minutes. On the corner of the last lively block before a park, on the second floor. Excellent music, great piña colada. |

Kona (Big Island): nice ocean boulevard, with a lot of restaurants and stores, but too touristic. More expensive lodging. Kona Seaside Hotel is not bad. Beaches in Big Island are pretty narrow. Almost everything is a cliff, rather. If you want beach, stay in Oahu. But you shouldn't miss the rainforests and the volcanos in Big Island. Try some excursion with Forest & Trail. Hilo (Big Island): nice city, with a lot of parks, but no beach plans. Near Kalapana, the place where lava is continuously flowing into the ocean (as of December 2009). Excursions with Lobo del Mar. Stay at Hilltop Legacy (Bed & Breakfast). Well situated, in downtown, and near the bus terminal. Amazing views from the rooms. Don't try to carry your luggage up the hill; take a cab instead, it's not expensive from the bus terminal. |

Make sure you check out the North Shore - it is beautiful. There is town called Hale'iwa which has some good places to eat, and if you keep going about 20-30 miles past there there are many roadside shrimp trucks - delicious. There is a lot of history in the area, like the rest of Hawaii. Check out a surfing competition if you can! |

The nearby International Market's food court has a lot of little restaurants with real cheap prices. |

05 Feb 2010 David, Estados Unidos:
Good beer selection at the Yard House. Had cheap Mai Tai's at Senor Frog's. Lava Lounge is close and cheap. |

05 Feb 2010 David, Estados Unidos:
Hike Diamond Head, the view from the top is worth it. Hiking Manoa Falls treks through rainforest to a 150 foot waterfall. Koko Crater is a steep hike with a great view. And check out Koko Crater's garden trail to see a diversity of native and non-native plant life. DEFINITELY take Jack's Tour. It's inexpensive and you'll see many sites outside Honolulu. |

Rented a bike and went just past Hanauma Bay when we saw humpback whales breaching from the ocean. Fabulous. Climb Diamond Head early before crowds, great view. |
