For good meals and famous shops of Sanguetang, it was up to 20,000 won; but usually it was 13,000 won. For eating at the big fish market Busan, we had a feeling of being cheated and fooled experience. After visiting 2 vendors selling Albone for a plate of 20,000 won and saying that cooking price for each person was 3,000 won in Korean with a finger showing one person, we thought that we had an understanding of the normal price. So when at the third vendor who asked us to buy a little bigger one plate of 30,000 won and saying the cooking price was 5,000 won in Korean for 2 persons with her finger showing a circle for us. We thought it was reasonable and acceptable and decided to buy it. She took us to the cooker and I heard that she said cooking price 5,000 won to the cooker shop. After finishing the meal, when I handed the cooker 5,000 won, she said that it was 5,000 for each one. I said nothing and handed 10,000 to her and left, becuase I knew I had finished the meal and we had been cheated and it was all over. As a traveller I did not want to make something unpleasant during my travel, because if I said that the vendor said that the cooking price was 5,000 won for two persons, the cooking shop would say that I had made mistake, it was 5,000 won for one person not two person because the Korean pronunciation for 1 and 2 was very near where I made a mistake. But do you think whether it was reasonable for all the others were charging 3,000 won and the cooking shop would charge 5,000 won for each, would I accept it and buy there, and as 2 persons there were 4,000 won over. And I clearly heard that she told the cooking vendor cooking price was 5,000 won that I understand some basic Korean in hearing. Though I don't care some small losses as counting in my country money, but obviously I was fooled and being cheated. That was my own experience and you had better pay the cooking price before the vendor then there was no words afterwards. |
