The harbor is a nice place to go in the sunset. Bodo does not have many attractions. |

No budget meals in Bodo (pronounced Buddha). No readily accessible supermarkets for those on foot or new to the area either. I did buy one pint of local beer for about £15GPB! There is an small asian supermarket just up the hill and to the left where you can buy food. If you want alcohol definitely buy it before you enter at duty free and use that. |

In mid winter there is no entertainment - don't know about the summer or what's available for young folks. Bodo is the last place you can reach on the train and its not a tourist town in the winter. In the summer I think one would spend time hiking around. |

The incredible scenery - breathtaking is an understatement. I hired a car but as I drove around I realised I could have used the local buses for touring. Don't go on the 'tourist coach' from the Hurtigruten - it costs 350KR whereas a bus pass is much cheaper and lasts longer. A trip down south on the local train is worth doing but the town at the end destination has no facilities in the winter. In summer I can imagine that it would be lovely to travel down and go walking. The Tourist Information Centre in Bodo was not helpful - perhaps if it was Bodo town I wanted to see they would pass muster but I wanted to explore round and about. If you like churches and an aviation musuem then you could possibly spend a day doing that. I found the locals didn't realised how astonishingly beautiful the area was - or perhaps they didn't know what to do with a tourist in the winter... Not much use anyway. |

Further north I think. I was advised that if I wanted to do this I would be better off travelling through Sweden as the roads are more direct. |
