We took the Rauma line to Dombas, the train to Trondhiem, and then went overnight to the artic circle. Alternatively, if you want to go south, I recommend Stryn hostel. Alesund is also worth a visit. |

There are several buses running between Alesund and Andalnes during the summer, although if you want to spend more than a couple of hours in Alesund its probably worth spending a night there. Definitely go and see Geiranger, passing over the amazing Trollstigen pass. There's also the Rauma line |

Trollstigen. We came to stay here so that we can enjoy the spectacular views at the easily accessible Trollstigen. Unfortunately the road was closed when we were there. I think the road only opens June to September. |

HI Hostel Åndalsnes Åndalsnes Hostel is idyllicaly situated approximately 1.5km outside the centre of Åndalsnes, surrounded by the spectacular Romsdal Mountains and the Romsdal Fjord. Åndalsnes Hostel is one of Norway's oldest hostels, and consists of three buildings located in a farmyard. We can offer our guests a nice welcome, clean and tidy rooms/common areas, a large outside area and free parking. In addition, our world famous breakfast is included in the price.
There is a quiet and calm atmosphere at the hostel, and it is very well suited for children. The hostel's location is very favourable considering the short distance to all of the famous attractions in the Åndalsnes area. It is an excellent starting point for day trips by foot, bicycle or car. Possible day trips are for instance: Trollstigen, Geiranger, Ålesund, Molde, The Atlantic Road and Kristiansund.
Activities range from horse riding and mountain hiking to fishing in the famous Rauma salmon river. Accommodation is in 2-6+ bedded rooms and facilities include kitchen, laundry and bike hire. | more...... |
