Local Kiwi supermarket. Eating out in Norway is prohibitive and Ålesund is no exception. Hostel kitchen is good value. On a side note, my Garmin SatNav device shows a Rema1000 supermarket just 200m/yds from the hostel. Does not exist. Ask manager for directions to Kiwi 300-400m distant. |

"The rock". In the park, opposite the hostel, 422 steps get you fit and the best view of the city, surrounding islands and the port. |

Stavanger is great too. Take the Flaggruten ferry for the fastest, most scenic journey. Careful, they leave at 7:30am and don't open their waiting room even on the coldest, wettest, windiest mornings. |
