Guimarães – Guimarães is a fabulously preserved mediaeval city and as the first capital of Portugal, is of great historical importance. With World Heritage preserved mediaeval streets and buildings, our group hostel is proud to be in of the most beautiful cities in the country. Examples of the wonderfully preserved buildings include the 10th Century Castle, the mediaeval palace of the Dukes of Braganca and the Gothic Sao Francisco Church. During the first week in August there is a three day festival to showcase medieval art and costume.
Lisbon – Monuments, museums, churches and nightlife are easily accessible from our group accommodation in Lisbon, and there are also great stadiums (Sporting and Benfica) where you can attend major football matches and music concerts. Porto – Still enjoying the rejuvenating benefits of its year as European Capital of Culture in 2001, Porto has a new metro system and some funky modern architecture combined with famous historic landmarks.
