Aix-les-Bains – HI’s group hostel in Aix-les-Bains is perfectly placed to explore this famous spa town, home to a host of outdoor activities including cross country skiing, hiking, cycling as well as a full range of water sports on Lake Bourget.
Amiens – A great destination for group trips interested in Gothic architecture – the Cathedral Notre-Dame d'Amiens is the largest cathedral in France and a UNESCO heritage site. Groups studying World War I will find many group tours available such as Terres de Memoire which all start in Amiens. Amiens is also well known for its 300 hectares of gardens right in the heart of the city which are divided by 55km of canals which can only be visited by punts or on foot from the towpath.
Annecy – Located in the Alps, this is a pretty, historic town set on the edge of a large lake with a stunning backdrop of mountains. Our group accommodation in Annecy is popular for ski trips due to its close proximity to many ski resorts.

Cadouin – A delightful mediaeval village in the Dordogne which has been sensitively restored to give visitors a glimpse of life in those days. It's chiefly famous for its magnificent 12th century Cistercian Abbey, a designated UNESCO historical site. Cadouin is great for groups interested in history as well as groups wanting to take part in river activities such as kayaking and rafting in the beautiful Dordogne region. It's also an ideal base for cycling holidays.
Cancale – HI’s group accommodation in Cancale is a good base for exploring Mont Saint Michel, St Malo, Dinan, The Emeraud Coast, the Chausey Islands and the Channel Islands. The activities available range from sailing to sail-kart, hiking and birdwatching in the nearby ornithological reserve.
Carcassone – This is a walled medieval town with stunning architecture and rich in history. There are many ﬁne restaurants and pretty boutique shops. Particular areas of interest are the Walled City and the Basilica de Sainte Nazaire.
Cepoy – Our group accommodation in this small village in central France is a good base for exploring nearby picturesque Fontainebleau with its magniﬁcent castle and grounds.
Chamonix – A beautiful ski resort located at the foot of the awe inspiring Mont Blanc in the French Alps and it's an ideal resort for ski groups. However Chamonix is not just a winter destination, in the summer it's the perfect location for group outdoor adventures, from mountain biking and trekking to paragliding and mountain climbing. There are also exciting opportunities for group trips wanting to take part in water based sports such as canyoning, white water rafting and canoeing.

Lorient – This is a modern town in Brittany whose attractions include a WWII submarine base and beautiful offshore islands. During the ﬁrst two weeks in August it hosts the Interceltique Music Festival which attracts over 5000 international participants.
Marseille – An ideal location for group travel, with its stunning Mediterranean coastline and numerous sandy beaches. As the second biggest city in France art groups will find Marseille rivals Paris in terms of museums and art galleries such as the Musee Cantini and the Musee des beaux-arts. There are busy bazaars and street markets to explore, particularly around the old port where there are pleasure boats available for group tours.
Nantes – Nantes is the sixth-largest city in the country and is full of parks, beautiful cobbled streets, great museums, a thriving arts scene and a large student population. It is also a main gateway to the Loire Valley.

Rouen – A great destination for groups interested in art and history. Monet painted Rouen Cathedral several times and there are many galleries and museums. Rouen is also significant historically as the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake. Groups trips focused in cultural activities will find many examples of Gothic architecture, including the Palais de Justice which is the largest civil Gothic building in France. Rouen is a great base for day group trips to places such as Abbaye Saint-George, Jardin Plume and Jardin de Bellevue amongst others.
