Group accommodation in Armenia at HI group hostels
Now I bet you didn’t know this about Armenia. The tiny land-locked country has produced one of the world’s most-famous singers - Charles Aznavour. Voted as the entertainer of the century in 1998 by CNN, Aznavour has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and is now a diplomat for Armenia, where both his parents originated from. Perfect for historians this country has a rich and varied past with Soviet roots. Yereven is a compact city which is easy to get around on foot and became known as the Pink City in its Soviet days because of the vibrant colours of the buildings. There is also a modern Metro system which is perfect for getting further afield.
There are a number of itineraries which have been developed for groups to make the most of the city. And because of the diversity of the landscape, there is something for everyone. Nearby Lake Sevan is accessible for groups looking to practice their water sports including windsurfing and there are also beaches and lakeside restaurants there for soaking up the summer sun.
For music fans make sure you check out the cheap and excellent performances at the Opera and/or the Chamber Music Orchestra. And for foodie groups why not try one of the themed restaurants in the Hrazdan Gorge where locals gather or for the more active why not climb the Cascades (or take the escalator inside) for great views of the city and Mt. Ararat. Another must-do activity whilst in Armenia is to see the Republic Square Singing Fountains which come to life between 9pm and 11p.m.
