I ate their food, which was expensive, as everything is in Uruguay, but good. You could walk to town if you wanted to buy your own food, there is also a bus but only once a day.

The sort of nearby (definitely walkable) goat farm sells four kinds of goat cheese. I got the hardeset/oldest stuff and it was quite good, and pretty inexpensive.

The food at el Galope is simple but tasty and good value too. Eating with the other guests is part of the experience. Take some snacks with you too because there are no shops unless you head into town.
