The man at the desk spoke extremely limited English and about Morocco could only repeatedly say "be careful" which scared me considering I am a woman travelling by myself for the first time. He gave me information about how to take a bus to the port which was inaccurate. He also gave me inaccurate information about the ports - told me that to go to Tangier I had to leave from Tariffa. When the bus never came I asked him to call me a cab and he told me that since the Tariffa cab company was not answering their phones, I had to pay for a cab to come from Algeciras, to take me to Tariffa, then I had to pay for the cab to go back to Tariffa costing 47 Euros in total. This information was wrong - I learned that I could in fact leave from Algeciras which I did without any incident and saved myself all of that money on the cab. Seeing as this hostel is located in a spot where many people are travelling to Morocco I felt that this hostel was completely unequipped and unprepared to help people in this voyage which is intimiading on it's own. Further, there was no internet or phone cards available, as well as no nearby stores or internet cafes to gain access to any form of communication. I felt stranded at this hostel getting inaccurate information and no way to verifiy whether or not the information was accurate or not.
