Not many budget meals in Sion, and Switzerland is overall expensive. Take advantage of the free breakfast in the hostel however.

Don't know about nightlife, but there is a restaurant called Cafe de Chateux at the base of Rue De Chateux, which had EXCELLENT service. Not only are they much cheaper than all the other restaurants, but the service is nice, they have themed menus, and the food is perfect.
