Reisetipps Bangkok - HI Baan Dinso

Can't go past a street pad Thai and huge fruit smoothie at Khoa San road which all together would be about 100 baht (3 USD), very short distance from this hostel where all the tourists go, if you're game enough then they have deep fried bugs there as well! |

DANGER: HEPATITIS A AND B ARE EVERYWHERE! Better NOT eat anything on the streets and do a (tripple) vaccination before going to Thailand! The McDonalds near the Democracy monument has also Thai dishes and is clean. There is also a nice restaurant inside the complex of the National Museum in Bangkok. In general it was difficult to find something good and clean to eat in the Old City. Buy stuff at the 7/11 stores. There is one just near the hostel when you go south. |

VISIT THE SMALLER TEMPLES FIRST! Like the GOLDEN MOUNT, WAT SAKET, WAT SUTHAT, WAT RACHANAT, WAT RACHAHOPHIT. No tourists, so you can actually appreciate the culture and the architecture. Leave the Palace with Wat Phra Kaeo and Wat Pho(one day) and Wat Arun with Dusit (one day) for the last days. Go VERY EARLY to visit Wat Phra Kaeo! Three to four days in Bangkok are optimal if you are not planing to visit the modern part of the city for shopping. |

Wat Pho was beautiful - royal palace was a let down for the price and avoid the jewelry factory (tuk tuk's get free gas if you visit, but we were told the merchandise was not authentic). Floating market was a worth while experience, but it is very much geared towards tourists. The night market is a blast! Good deals to be made! |
