Reisetipps Beijing Heyuan International YH

i will try explaining the directions : take exit A of Jishuitan subway stop, and keep walking down that road. you will cross a huge bank building and a chinese style building. just keep walking down that road till you reach a major intersection. Cross the road here.go over to the other side and continue walking down that road till you see an ancient chinese style gate to you left side. it wont be a building, just a gate at the beginning of the road. take that road to your left and keep walking . you should see the chinese film research centre to your right now. immediately after the film research centre building, you ll see a red color building with the number 10 much above the eye level.if you see the number 10, then take that lane to the right and walk 5 steps till you see the hostelling international logo of the heyuan youth hostel. total travel time from subway to hostel is 10 mins with suitcases and luggage. roads are pretty free and uncluttered so no problem dragging your wheeled luggages. i raeched at around 4pm in the evening and it took me one whole hour to locate the place. tried flagging a taxi but it didnt work out. a good samaritan then just walked with me and dropped me at the hostel gate. but things can get frustrating when no one understands english and you have had a 12 hours flight. I know i have written a detailed description about the directions and it might seem frivolous but this was the only time during my entire stay in beijing when i had problems. i used the subway EXTENSIVELY and it was absolutely hasslefree. to all the non mandarin speaking travellers, i would recommend the subway as all the signs are in english and its very easy to commute intra city using the fabulous subway system. |

great wall. get your own driver. mutianyu section is cool, stay there three hours. forbidden city is very touristic, so you better go on the small hill (2RMB entrance fee) just north of the forbidden city where you get a great view over the city. |

Check out the road-side stores around the main road. It's a local way of life! However, not recommended for daily consumption. :P |
