Not much hostel culture, but as a place to lay your head is very good. Responsive staff took care of things I needed. Price for a single was low! Good banana pancakes!

Very good value, clean rooms. Actually quite easy to find (new signs to entrance) in contrast to what was said in certain travel guides. Bar and basic food (breakfast really) served, in a quiet neighbourhood. It's a fair walk from the city centre. You'll need to take a bus/taxi at the very least to get to the south bus station (to Sanya) and the airport; both over half an hour at least from the hostel by taxi. Staff very helpful; travel info readily available for Haikou and Hainan overall. Recommend this to english-only speaking travellers as well as mandarin speakers!

the bed is very hard like you are sleeping on a piece of wood, room is dirty especially the toilet but the staff (ie tall girl) is friendly and helpful.

Probably the worst hostel I stayed in in China in terms of facilities and location, but the staff is great and the price is right.

Although the night staff seem a bit at a loss, the overall stay was very good although very short. Breakfasts and smoothies are good! Keep your eyes open as it's not that easy to find from the main road when coming by taxi at night if the taxi driver has no clue where it is and make sure the taxi driver doesn't give you the grand city tour while driving you there from the bus station!

Holiday season prices. Very welcoming staff, helped with information and translating notes. Dorm spacious and clean though drainage in the bathroom not good. More information could be given about excusions before the day of the trip and guides used selected more carefully. For a forest trip we had a guide who did not know the location well and could not speak english. Overall a good stay and good people.

Staff's English not great. The girls did not know how to book tours, which was very strange, as this is often a very busy job for hostels. The cook did not come in until 9:00am. The girls didn't even know how to make coffee. This staff needs some training for sure. Chinese squat toilets are definitely a turn off.
