staying in room 203. when the shower was on, if not directed properly it would flood the whole bathroom, so a showercurtain would have been handy. not a lot of common area, as the pond took up a lot of space, nice as it is. all in all a very laid-back place, good location, but for hanging out, try The Loft (their sister hostel down the road).

Fantastic hostel, especially the reception staff - I cannot speak highly enough of them.

Location is amazing, I managed to persuade others from my travels to stay there. 1 min from starbucks when you want a break from noddles and rice for breakfast and western style toilets (big advantage).

The private room was small and did not even contain a drawer or anything, so that was a bit plane. However, the staff was nice and the internet for free, which was nice.

The dragtown hostel is a really nice hostel in a cute street in Chengdu. The rooms are clean, bathroom huge, and the staff very friendly. It takes about 15 minutes to walk into town. We only found it too bad that the travellers cafe turned out to be this overpriced luxery restaurant, so no breakfest in the morning. But some great bakery stores are about 2 blocks away.

Great neighborhood and close to the city center. The restaurants and the pedestrian streets right next to the hostel itself are somewhat expensive, but there are tons of cheap eats one or two blocks away as well as just about anywhere else in Chengdu. Make sure to use the mosquito repellant vaporizers in the rooms if available, or apply insect repellant to your skin. There are a lot of mosquitoes in Chengdu for an urban area, and their bites itch more than what I\m used to from home.

The staff here are extremely helpful and friendly! There are tickets available from the hostel for a 'China Culture Show' which is a sort of Chinese variety show with lots of different acts. It was a bit cheesy, but fun. They also do day-trip excursions to Panda reserve and research base, and to Leshan Grand Buddha. There was no guide, English or otherwise at the Grand Buddha, but we enjoyed it anyway.
