We are a hill walking group. Ambleside is one of our favourite Youth Hostels as it always leaves us with a strong desire to return again for another few days. I hope to make another booking to Ambleside soon.

Despite visiting this YHA regularly - we had a terrible time on our last trip due to the noise of other guests very late at night being woken up several times long past 2am! We asked to move rooms and the staff did this for us but the second night was even worse with people standing long after midnight having a conversation outside our room. There are notices up asking guests to be quiet but obviously this isn't enough. The doors are very noisy when they slam and other guests were inconsiderate, hence we were exhausted and left straight after breakfast on our last day. I stay here regularly but with the price increase and extra cost now for breakfast, in the future we have decided to stay in a bed and breakfast where we may get a good nights rest!!!!

But sad to see that Yha Hostels being turned into Bars and so much drink about - when so many bars /clubs /hotels in the vicinity

I really like this hostel.. Some lucky backpackers could have awesome view just look out the window .. Wish I could go there next year~

We stayed 4 nights in Ambleside. Unfortunately with very bad weather. Therefore we spent more time in the YHA then we planned. Rooms were ok - looks like families are put on the 3rd floor where it is more quiet (this hostel is rather big). Staff was very friendly and food was good. Don't rely on the drying room: Capacity was not enough for this amoutn of rain and this amoubt if people. Self catering: The "dining room" was not very nice and very full. Same for the self catering kitchen. We tried it once and then never came back, except for making hot water for tea.

We could not use the "Free shuttlebus" that your Web site states. We could not get enough information about the Free shuttlebus. That was the only demerit. Other than that it was good stay. Thank you very much!

Beautiful scene and friendly staff. I love to stay in front of the lake side.
