| 1 minute walk from Hualien train station. Taxi rank outside the door, & a 7-Eleven nearby. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Staff spoke very limited English. Room was very clean, comfortable, well equipped, and was good value for money. Hostel doesn't have a communal kitchen or lounge area. Reception closed between 5:45pm & 6:00pm each night we were there (not 8:00pm as stated on hihostels.com). There did not appear to be any way for late arrivals to check in. The limited English of the staff meant that I am unsure whether they received our booking, or whether we were just lucky that they had room when we arrived. If you (or someone you know) speaks Mandarin I would suggest you phone the hostel a few days prior to reconfirm your booking and confirm the hours reception will be open. Hostel staff arranged an English speaking driver to go to hiking trails in nearby Taroko National Park - this was very much appreciated. Thanks for an enjoyable stay. (184028) | |||
