Was very impressed by the decoration of the interior of the place initially. With a mini-bar and a whole collection of books (akin to a mini-library) as well as friendly staff, it is one of the better hostels I have lived in. Though I personally feel the cleanliness of some spot of the place could be better.

Absolutely independent from other places. Can enjoy the peace and quite of Alishan. Nice view of Alishan from the entrance.

No comment as I couldn't stay at the hostel as it's located very far from the Alishan station. The staff was very kind to recommend me to stay at hotels near the station as I'd like to watch sunrise next day. I suggest the hostel to inform their location and what can be done to their guests to avoid same mistakes as what I did.

The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately the Alishan train did not stop at the stop, and ended up at the top without any info on how to get back down to Er Wan Ping. Thankfully the Information people at the top helped contact the hostel, and a driver came up to bring us to the hostel for no additional cost.

The male receptionist was not very helpful. It was like he would only provide an answer to the question we asked and nothing more. The X factor was missing. The security was not very good. We had alot of difficulty in locking the room and even spent up to 10 mins closing the door. Furthermore, the smell of smoke was a constant through the 2 nights. We even rang up the reception but to no avail. Being an asthmatic, it was highly annoying that I had to wake up to the smell of smoke and sleep with it too instead of enjoying the fresh mountain air. I was recommended to stay at a HI Hostel as it was said to be safer and it had a higher standard. Overall, it was pretty alright but it was all the little things from the not so helpful receptionist to the smoke filled air that made this one of the not so worth it hostels. I wouldn't recommend my friends to stay in the hostel and I do hope by commenting, the management could do something and improve the stay for other travellers.
