There is very little communal space which was dominated by Russian women boiling fish and cabbage!! It was extremely noisy at night due to people being allowed to play loud programmes from the computer (which is in the corridor near the rooms) at 11.30pm. Lack of curtains also made for very bright room in the morning. Bathroom was great.

Location is excellent. However, I would suggest the hotel put a sign at the entrance. It is not easy to locate the entrance.

This hostel is very modern and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The main drawback is there is no common area to sit and relax other than the kitchen. Also there is quite a lot of noise from the street at night. Very close to the metro, supermarkets, Nevsky Prospect and train stations.

I was quite satisfied with the Pilau Hostel. The only things I would have liked to see were lockers in the dorms and a better sign on the street to find the place.

So impressive hostel, you know ,that's my first time arrived at St.petersburg , the reception treat us soOOOOOOO nice ,even when i suddenly got a sick. tidy room and excellent facility! from the bottom my heart , thanks PILAU , PILAU let me love Russia :)

Building entrance looked so old and scary but hallway inside and en suite room is new and clean, feel like stay in hotel rather than hostel. Worthwhile comparing to the others around. I expect to stay again in the next visit to St Petersburg.

Pilau Hostel is really very good. All enquiries before our stay were handled very efficiently and in reasonable English. The accommodation is clean and well organised despite a slight shortage of space. I would certainly return to Pilau and would recommend it to all other visitors to St. Petersburg.
