Staff were not very friendly; seemed grouchy, in fact. A smile and a big "welcome!" cost nothing; instead, the employee shoved our sheets at us and was grumpy when I forgot to bring the box top back to the office. She seemed to care more about control than hospitality.

security is overkill, with combinations on every door. To go to the bathroom you have to carry a code so as to get back to your room. If security is actually a problem, why not have lockers? I suspect security is NOT that much a problem and combination locks can simply be eliminated without consequence.

We enjoyed our stay very much although it was a stormy day and the house was nearly blown away.

The exterior lighting at this facility is not great, the parking lot is poorly lit and far from the buildings which makes it feel unsafe. Arriving late and in the dark I was uncomfortable in the lot. The road sign also lacks sufficient lighting, making it tough to see until it is too late to turn in. That being said once you get to the hostel it is fabulous and we would definitely stay again, and recommend it to friends and family.

charming and cozy. the intimacy made it easy to start conversations I was glad to find that it is only a lighthouse, without a foghorn. It is remarkable that such a fine, remote, place can exist so close to the city

This was my first time at a hostel. I notice that some expericaned travelers brought ipods, ear pugs and eye masks for sleeping. I wil remember next time, because there was a miss chatty in the bunk room who rambled on for an hour while I was trying to go to sleep.
