| Beautiful place. My only minor complaint is that I paid a small online booking fee that was not deducted when I arrived at the hostel. I mention this not because I care about the money - it was only a couple dollars - but because at the other hostels I'd booked online, the fee was deducted and I paid the balance. I thought I'd draw it to your attention in case it's a small glitch in the system, or something that needs to be explained to the folks at Midpines. Thank you. (232292) | |||

| There weren't lockers for every bed which left some without the option of locking up their things. I don't mind paying an extra $0.50 for a towel but that should just be built-in to the price. I'd imagine most people prefer to have a fresh towel for their stay. (229075) | |||

| Once I found it, a few miles out of Midpines had a good 1 day stay. WIll go back for more than 1 day in the future, maybe in the spring. Great food wasn't there long enough to try anything else. (228954) | |||

| The rooms are ok, but the restrooms are not so good ( the shower's water was almost cold, and they leave both doors opened, witch make the restroom very cold).
But the dinner is great !! (230553)

| online-booked rate through HI was not conform with the hostel-rates - created some confusion and took some precious time but was finally solved (228113) | |||

| Mostly very good. Not enough lockers to go around in my dorm (though the ones they did have were the biggest I've seen at a hostel, for all the good it did when there were none left). Nobody in my dorm (but me) ever locked the door, either, though that's not really the hostel's fault.
Good that there were laundry facilities, though getting to the laundry involved climbing a bunch of stairs in the dark (then doing it again to check if the cycle was finished (with no chairs or waiting area). (220640)

| Compared with other HI hostels I have used in the US the kitchen was very poorly-equipped and cramped. It would have been useful if the hostel had stocked some basic food items to avoid a long journey. (212551) | |||

| I have been here only once before -- staff, location, etc all wonderful -- very relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be back (in a cooler time of year -- it was too warm for me).
There was a mix-up in the room arrangements, though nothing earth-shattering (reason for 'good' vs 'very good' rating)...but I have learned to call and make my reservation, or at least confirm them by phone, since I had reserved beds in the female dorm and ended up with a co-ed dorm instead -- only one guy vs five girls (poor guy)...but he was very respectful of our privacy, so there were no issues!
