located very close to the basel sbb station, it seemed safe even late in the night. the building was not new but clean, breakfast was very nice, great value for money. im sure i will use this hostel again when i have chance to visit this beautiful city again.

We stayed at a number of Swiss YHA which were spotless, but Basle didn't mirror this. However, the room was bright, spacious and views over Basle good.

Great hostel, great staff. The only drawback is parking space - we have found it on the street where the hostel is at - but we were lucky :) It's only 10 min from city center!

Free public transportation pass enabled us to get the total Basel experience. Great city, great hostel, good breakfast.

The Hostel was very good. The bike trail signs leaving Basel for Breisach were very bad.

Staff needs to be a bit more proficient in English. Directions to the hostel on the internet should be clearer - we did not know that we need to get to the other side of the railway station.

My husband and I are in our early 60's. We found our stay to be just fine-especially because we had a mini-famiy reunion in Basel and had 5 rooms. BUT-I was concerned about being on the 4th floor, without a phone and no one at the desk during the night. What would we do in any emergency? (We didn't have our cell phones with us.) Otherewise, this worked well for us. Thank you.

If I should need to overnight in Basel again, I would not hessitate to reserve accommadation at the Basel City Hostel. The breakfast was rather spartan, but good and the ablution facilities + room were clean.
