Efficient reception and lockable bike store. More like a basic hotel than a YHA but I suppose this is what the big ones are aiming for nowadays. Well-equipped kitchen with plenty of everything as regards equipment, cookers etc, After free internet in Thurso, I was slightly disappointed to have to pay for it here, but not too exorbitant at least.

i have emailed a full complaint to customerservices@syha.org.uk.. by far the worst hostel i have stayed at, not worth a penny i paid for it, and i found one particular staff member absolutly useless

Really nice hostel, we were really impressed. The rooms were a nice size for the amount of beds. Often nowadays hostels try to cram as many beds in the room as they can and don't care about your comfort. We've already recommended the hostel to friends and would stay there without hesitation when we return to Inverness.

they advertise free luggage store but in fact we had to buy a padlock and use the locker - there´s no luggage store room. the kitchen is far too small for such a big hostel - in the morning it´s positively crowded, there´s a toaster queue, cooker queue...plus the notice "Knives only available from reception" - that´s a bit scary, right ?

Pros: key card room access, huge lockers, clean dorm and bathrooms, beds have a light and close to power point, helpful and friendly staff, free map, big kitchen, common room with TV, 20 minute easy walk from Inverness bus and rail station, close to cafes, pubs, restaurants in town. Cons: no breakfast included, expensive WI FI and internet computers - 3 pounds/hour, school group / family type atmosphere.

Rooms were a tad small for six and sleeping bag-style bedding was a bit awkward to get in place, but otherwise rooms were fine. Storage lockers in lobby were useful. Showers were cleaner and more spacious than most hostels.
