it is pleasant, quiet and the restaurants are great. thank you for all the people who made it possible to be a nice place to stay. ofuro is wonderful. I read some people complain because of no shower in the morning. but as a Japanese I throughly enjoyed the evening bath in such a spacious, clean and nice ofuro. as good as onsen. if you stay in a country which is different from your own it is one way to learn their custom rather than complaining. such as this time of bath. anyway thank you very much. but if I come back with my family I dont know how to stay in single room. it was perfect when I am by myself. the location is great.

For basically $30 a night and to have your own room is great. The only 2 things that were a bummer is that there wasn't internet available in the room, you had to go to a different area to get it, and also you can only shower from 5pm-11pm and you have to get your own towel as well. But the location is good and you get your own room as well, so I can't complain that much.

It`s a little complicated to find, especially after travelling for 24 hours and it`s dark out, but it was less than 15 minutes from the subway, an individual room, with a nice hot bath and a beautiful forrest to wander around in the morning.

Despite the single rooms and the great location away from traffic, this can not be recommendet for people with light sleep. Celebrations of sports groups staying within the complex, the noises of the heavy doors and open bathroom facilities and the staff making big fuss if somebody is still in the shower after 11 pm is hard to overhear. Also since last year internet access for your own laptop has been cut. :-( Still probably the best budget place to stay in Tokyo.

There is no kitchen. You can eat in a big school canteen restaurant, breakfast is around 400 yens I think. It's expensive in Japan. I've never been. It is used by the hundred of children who have a sport camp in this place. There is one common shower room, and only one private bathroom for the 12 female bedrooms. But there is a japanese bath in this. The staff is not very helpful, and it's hard to speak english with them. Because of the facilities and the staff, I think it's a bit expensive. There is not really a lounge, it can be hard to meet people in this youth hostel. The good think is the location, because the hostel is not far from Shinjuku and Shibuya. The Sangubashi area is very nice, you feel a little bit outside of Tokyo. It's also in a park, that's nice after walking all the day. But you have to climb all the stairs !!! The good thing can be also the private room, if you are tired of sleeping in dormitories.

The laundry service and bath time are very limited. The rate for drying clothes is too high.

Very big institution. Quite clean, very nice staff. But 3 quite major discomforts. 1, though only a 5 min train ride to Shinjuku from closest train station - getting to the nearest train station takes 10 min or so. While normally not a problem, this can be a major pain if you've got heavy luggage. 2, no internet. Upon reading the information for the YH, it says you have access to the internet. Upon closer inspection after arriving, I found out you have to buy a 24h pass in order to log in, and even after having purchased this passport, I still could not get the thing to work as it repeatedly claimed that my 24h passport wasn't legitimate. 3, showers and laundry. Found it vexing that you can only access showers and do laundry between 5pm-11pm. Due to them being a bit slow on locking the door to the showers I managed to take a shower every day - at night. But unlike Asian people my body does perspirate and not being able to take a shower in the morning makes me feel very unclean.

Room had not been swept prior to arrival. Toilet area smelled like urine on a consistent basis.
