Enjoyed the hostel and staff and facilities very good. Location is stunning and outstanding but felt 20 euros a night for a 6 bedder dormer room even with an ensuite that did not include breakfast a little expensive would have been happier with 16 or 17 euros per night.

The most beautiful place on earth, a real 'get away from it all' not just for students! Beds aren't suitable for anyone over 5'6 though as you can't stick your feet out!! Good facilities though and clean, nice to have a private bathroom.

My memories of my stay at Glendalough YH, through no fault of the management, will always be tainted by the snoring and farting Dutchman in my dorm who destroyed my two nights there. In desperation one night, I went outside to see if I could sleep in the corridor - or anywhere - and I could still hear this guy from the passageway. On the plus side, the breakfasts were good!

Both my friend(30) and I (40) had a very enjoyable stay in glendalough. The walks and scenery are lovely. We had a very peaceful stay, it was hard to believe we were in a hostel. It was very tranquil. We brought our own food and had the use of the kitchen where everything you could possibly need is at hand.On the last day we ordered breakfast,it was very nice.

We ( 8 pers. from Germany) were on the way to Kerry and so we stay there only for one night last july. I could imagine to stay there also for a 3 or4 days. A nice and cosy Youthhostel.

Minor complaint; on the last night of my stay there was a group of poorly disciplined grade school children (about 40 in the 9 - 11 age group.) extremely noisey until the early hours of the morning - screaming and chasing one another through the corridors, slamming doors and generally making a racket. I know they were not the responsibility of the hostel staff but felt someone from the staff should have spoken to those responsible for the children. (Perhaps this was done but was ineffectual.) As an ex school teacher I know that children away from home can be unruly, sometimes foolish but this group went beyond the boundaries unfortunately.

I thought it was a pricey for a dorm room, especially because it didn't include breakfast. Location was excellent for us because it was really close to both the upper and lower lakes.

although we booked for two nights, we only stopped for one. this was because the hostel appeared to have been taken over by the whole of Dublins young offenders, who with little or no adult supervison spent the whole night running riot!!. they were even seen stealing from the pub/bar next door! this was reported to staff during the night and to the manager in the morning. Had we been aware of this situation we would never have booked, which is a shame as the location was excellent and the situation at the hostel ruined our trip. the staff were very apologetic and understanding when we explained why we were leaving early.
