|Hands down the best HI hostel I've stayed in ever! The staff were very helpful, booked me four more nights when one just wasn't enough because Rothenburg needs more than one night. The cleanliness was a breath of fresh air after a couple nights in an industrial Munich hostel that smelled like urine and the food every morning was so delicious! It felt like a home away from home and even though I could afford a hotel, staying at this hostel was my favorite part of the trip! A special commendation for the assistant manager Ismi, who constantly bent over backwards to help guests and make sure that everyone had what they needed. Also, the game shelf was out of this world:)|
|There were groups of very young hostelers (perhaps age 11-12) who were chasing one another and loud until after 1:00 a.m. Our room door did NOT lock! There were only two toilets for the many people on our wing, and one was plugged up. This was my first stay at a hostel, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that they are not all like this one.|
|Unfortunately my room had bedbugs. The first night I thought they were mosquito bites but then I found a bedbug. I received quite as few bites during my stay. I realize that this kind of thing can easily happen, and I don't want to detract from the positive. I would recommend this hostel, but you must be prepared for this kind of thing in any hostel.
|A lovely hostel, great location, and close to parking. Parkschein Automat is a bit tricky for an English speaker, but another tourist helped us. The breakfast and supper at the hostel were good, plain food and greatly appreciated. Linens were nicely ironed and crisp. The hostel supplied a very useful map.|
|I used to like the idea of Youth Hostels. A bed and breakfast and a (shared) shower for a fair price.
However the more I travel the more I realize that the main benefit of a youth hostel (the price) is not based on reality. This week I traveled with a friend through Germany and I got a really good B&B in Volkach for 25 euro and a really good hotel in Wertheim for 35.
the Youth Hostels I stayed in (Rothenburg and Würzburg) were 28 and 31 euro and that is with a membership card! Otherwise I had to pay an additional supplement of 3 or 4 euro.
So basically you can get a nicely decorated room, with an already made bed and an in-room shower and toilet (towels included) for the same or even a better price.|
|I have even posted the picture of your hostel on facebook!|
