It is not suitable to check-in in Santa Claus Hotel. We came there by own car and because there is no reception in hostel, we needed to looking for a hotel, that located in other part of the city

Remember, you have to check in at the Santa Claus Hotel! The Hostel is very cozy and I had a veeeery good sleep the night I spent in Rovaniemi.

This youth hostel is in fact a hotel that has been downgraded. There are no staff in evidence (check in at a hotel 600m away) Only one of the 2 kitchens was open when we stayed there and it is very tiny with hardly any cutlery and crockery and in a miserable basement room. So not enough facilities for the people who needed to use it at the same time. It feels like an abandoned hotel rather than a hostel.

I stayed 2 nights and was too tired to notice when I arrived how dirty the bathroom was, there was a significant amount of mold on the shower curtain and inside the shower. After hearing about their excellent reputation I didn't inspect the room as I usually would when I first arrived, if I had noticed earlier, I would have asked for a room change or a refund. I won't stay again.
