| I hadn't stayed in a YH since a night in the St Pancras hostel, when I vowed never to stay in one again because of the snoring and general discomfort. I found myself - booked by others - at Minehead, which is a good one but still a YH with attendant disadvantages (for me). These days, I would much rather stay in a B&B or hotel and in Ilfracombe paid £40 pn for a lovely sea view ensuite room with breakfast which, given breakfast is extra at YH's is not that much more money for 100% more comfort and privacy.
I wish the YHA would provide more single ensuite rooms in all hostels (where feasible) to capture the spending capabilities of people like me - older, want some company, want to cook but want comfort and a bed, not a bunk.
