| I would not recommend this hostel to solo female travellers. I did not feel safe staying here and have travelled a lot! The staff tried to rip me off on airport transfers and it seemed like only local men were staying there. I had a private room and late at night someone came banging on the door but wouldn't identify themselves so I wouldn't open the door. Also, no taxi drivers knew the hostel so took ages to find as it doesn't have an English sign out front. Unfortunately, about your only budget option in Sharm. (232731) | |||

| The worst place we stayed in Egypt - room and bathroom dirty. Room unbearably hot with no air con or fan. Poor security - we were woken at 3am by 2 strangers banging on the door. We wouldn't stay again. (229986) | |||

| As always, my stay was wonderful. I so much appreciate the friendliness of the staff and of the guests. I feel like I am coming "home" each time I get to return! Thank you so much for all the nice little "touches"....welcoming me, making sure the room was ready, being willing to change days since I lost my passport in Cairo somewhere; keeping my passport locked up for me; everything you do is so helpful! | I love staying at the youth hostel. There are many Egyptian families who stay here, so it is a great opportunity to meet national people and learn more about the culture. The hostel has updated the bed linens, and does a great job of making people feel welcome. This time there was a school group staying at the hostel, so it was rather loud (but, it is a late night culture); but the students were very pleasant and respectful to talk to. Breakfast is a simple Egyptian breakfast, but is good. (170229) | |||

| The hostel is in a perfect location for sightseeing, rooms are basic but cosy with hot water access 24/7. There is a nice view from the roof, where you eat your delicious breakfast basking in the sun, and where you can get a reliable internet connection if you bring your laptop with you. The staff is super nice, and very helpful. Do follow their advice, because they have your well-being and security in mind. I.e. Yosef, the hostel owner, waited for me and my friends at the airport for 6 hours because our plane was late and my two Chinese friends had their passports held up by the airport security. We were really grateful for this as it was almost 1am and we would have no means of getting to the city. We also compared the prices of the daily excursions to the temples and the falucca trips with other hotels and travel agencies, and it looks like the New Everest offers are a good deal. I would definitely go back there.

| As always, the staff at the hostel are friendly, helpful, and simply amazing. This is actually my favorite place to stay when I travel to Sharm. I have stayed in hotels, and would rather be here. :) The hostel recently bought new coverings for the beds, which improves the appearance of the rooms. They have been so good, and I truly appreciate still being able to have the same room....it is my home away from home! Hostel response: | |||

| The rooms were quite dirty and the shower head seemed to have some sort of fungus growing on it. The location is far away from anything in Sharm, and for the money you pay, the rooms could be nicer. Hostel response: | |||

| One receptionist was passive-aggressive and would not tell me what the dinner included even though I asked him in Arabic. He simply replied "fish." I had to ask him, "How about a vegetable? And bread? And fruit? And a drink?" (158542) | |||
