|Cabins were in good shape. I am short, so beds were okay, however I heard one of the taller people I was traveling with, was a bit uncomfortable in the small bed.
|Staff friendly and responsive; kept facilities clean and locked by 10am for day. My only issue is that the dining cabin is small and crowded. HI-Athabasca Falls has a much nicer dining cabin. The small cabin at HI-Maligne Canyon did result in more interaction among the guests though. |
|Good practical location for hikes. Kept clean despite the 'wilderness' environmetn. Don't understand there are no flush toilets and an (outside) washing sink (there is plenty of water available from river at 10 m from hostel) to provide this extra basic comfort.|
|Excellent wilderness hostel - Electricity but no running water, bear sightings common so take care! |
|Niko was available and very courteous. |
|If you miss the showers you are welcome at the HI-hostel in Jasper...|
|Never been that much bitten by mosquitos than in this place! Without mosquito repellant, you just can't survive, and believe me, I'm not crazy about that chemicals usually.
The stuff is almost inexistent.
The name says it, wilderness. You can either shower in the river (pretty cold and a huge water debt, be careful) either go and have a shower at the other HI in Jasper.
The room are really small, the heater was on when we arrived even though the temperature was very high. The kitchen was almost like a sauna.
After you left, you think it was funny, while being then, well...just wait until you leave ;)|
|Great wilderness lodge right across the road from the extraordinary Maligne Canyon. Sited alongside beautiful mountain river, this hostel is perfect for those who prefer a smaller lodge with wildlife right on your doorstep, even hummingbirds if you're quiet.|
