Unser 4-Bett Zimmer bestand aus 2 Stockbetten und sonst nichts, eng, kein Stuhl, kein Tisch, kein Schrank, nichts da zum etwas ablegen...für eine Nacht wars aber ok. Duschen und WCs waren sauber. Trotzallem gutes Zwischenquartier auf dem Weg zum Atlantik!

This is the worst hostel I've stayed in to date. The washing facilities were dirty, the dorm floor was dirty, the toilet was dirty and I don't think that's acceptable. Ok it was cheap, but I would rather pay more and have clean, well maintained facilities.

any one can walk thru the gates until 9 pm and hide on the property. There were no locks on the building where we slept; just in the room. The trash was not throw out the whole 5 days we were there and no trash cans in the room; only in the hall and shower room

I walked there from the train station after dark and was VERY glad that it was not a long walk to get there with heavy bags, and not uphill! BUT -- as I approached from the west, I could see Auberge de Jeunesse on the building but the only gate visible was locked. I found another gate that was locked and chained, and there were no lights visible anywhere; I thought the place was closed even though I had a reservation. I eventually found the entrance at the other end, but only after a few moments of panic. All this is to say that it would be a great idea to have a visible sign or two on the west end of the hostel or gate directing visitors to the entrance, maybe with the hours. I was carrying heavy bags and very tired so perhaps not as sanguine as usual, but I think many people coming to a hostel at night might be in the same position! Signs would be welcome. Thanks very much. :)

Kitchen facilities very poor as were common room and Internet facilities and tourist Information. rooms are basic and fittings are very old and in disrepair. fire alarm went off randomly at night without anyone coming to attend to it. Brive Itself is not accommodating to backpackers without transport as there is vertually no public transport. would not reccommend a trip to this place/hostel

The staff were very helpful. Maintenance: The washbasin taps work but are damaged and need renewing.

The members' kitchen could do with updating: better electric hotplates for cooking on, dingy decor. Overall though our stay at Brive was excellent.
