make smaller dorms! max 6 or 8 people!! very important!! clean the showers, fix internet, get a pool table and make a complementary breakfeast... the hostel is so far out of jasper...

Antwort des Hostels:
Haha! Thanks for the feedback about HI-Jasper. We do appreciate the ideas but unfortunately we are bound by our current building and as well by a budget. We have been working very hard over the past couple of years to give the hostel a much needed face lift but there are some projects that will just not be a reality in our current location. There is a preliminary process in the works to add some more privacy to our co-ed dormitory in the future. The only internet service that is available to us is a satellite connection so our internet speed will always be subject to the weather in Jasper. If you have any ideas where we could put a pool table in HI-Jasper then I am all ears. We have a couple of big common areas but it is also located right next to the female dormitory room and might cause a lot of negative feedback from those people who are trying to sleep. If you have any other ideas for me then please don"t hesitate to contact me directly! My email address is below. Thanks again!

Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry that the kitchen and hostel did not meet your cleanliness standard. We do try and keep it as clean as possible but sometimes it is hard to have hostellers clean up after themselves. We try very hard to control the 11pm quiet time but sometimes in the middle of summer it can be hard to keep all of our guests at a reasonable volume level. Hopefully the rest of your travels are safe and we hope you will come back in the future so we can change your views of our hostel! Cheers. Ryan, Manager HI-Jasper

Air outlet in bath room accumulated a lot of dust. It need regular clean up. A lot of flies in kitchen. That is not good for health.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I will make sure to have housekeeping take a look at the vent in the bathroom and give it a cleaning. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay. Ryan, Manager HI-Jasper

Very old and ugly hostel. The mixed dorm, with around 70 beds, seems a prison.

Thanks for the feedback. I"m sorry you did not enjoy your time at HI-Jasper. The building we are currently in was built back in the 1960"s and was originally an old ski lodge. Although we try to keep our building well-maintained, the age of building sometimes works against us. One of the characteristics of the hostel that we often mention on our websites is the large dormitory-style accommodation we provide for our guests. It is certainly not for everyone. The co-ed dormitory has 22 bunk beds in it and our female room has 15 bunk beds. Some people enjoy the community environment which promotes meeting other travellers from around the world. Other people enjoy coming to hostels which provide privacy at all hours of the day; unfortunately we are certainly not the second option. I hope you enjoy the rest of your travels! I will never stay at this hostel again. It was hot and nosiy and extremely crowded. When compared to the other hostels in the Rockies, this one should be totally renovated or moved downtown...it is a terrible place to be stuck without a car and the sleeping environment is miserable.

Thanks for your feedback. I"m sorry you did not enjoy your experience at HI-Jasper. It is true that in the middle of the summer it can get a hot in the dormitories. Although we have been tentatively working on plans to put a new hostel closer to the Jasper townsite, it is still uncertain as to when this project will be a reality. If you come back again, make sure to ask the staff what there is to do around the hostel. Even though it can be inconvenient to be stranded 7km away from Jasper without a vehicle, many people enjoy the fact that Whistler"s Mountain is right out our backdoor, Jasper tramway is only a 10 minute walk away and fire pit is well used through the summer months. Once again, sorry for your bad experience and I am hoping we can make it up to you in the future...townsite or wilderness location! Cheers. Ryan, Manager HI-Jasper

Too many people for 3 showers and 3 or 4 toilets!

Antwort des Hostels:
Thanks for your feedback. We agree that in the middle of summer that it can be a little time consuming to wait for a shower at HI-Jasper. We did some minor renovations to the female washroom this year but unfortunately we could not squeeze any more stalls in there, only more counter space and sinks. Aside from that, we do hope you enjoyed your stay, the surroundings of Jasper National Park, and the rest of your trip. Cheers. Ryan, Manager HI-Jasper

when I was stayed there, I feel so happy. All the staff were so kind and facilities were good. but Location was far from Jasper downtown. wireless internet service was poor and security was bad compare to other Hi-hostel such as HI-lake louise and HI-edmonton. two hostel gave me a security entrance card.

Thanks for your feedback. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our staff and facilities. It is true that we are located 7kms from the Jasper townsite. Although it is sometimes a pain to get to the hostel, we believe that our location in the wilderness gives you easy access to so much more. There is hiking trails right out our backdoor, there is a lovely firepit on property for our guests to sit around and meet other travellers, and above all else, it is so quiet and peaceful. Our wireless internet can be very slow and we are sorry. Since we are located a little out of town we do not have access to anything but a Satellite Connection. If a storm rolls in or if other guests have their laptops running then it can slow down the entire system. We see this as an opportunity for our guests to get outside and enjoy nature. It"s also true that we do not have key access cards to our hostel. Heck, there isn"t even doors on our dormitory rooms. We supply every bed with a large locker for their valuables and perhaps in the future we will entertain the idea of putting security locks on our 2 dormitory rooms. It"s a tough battle to decide if the extra security would be beneficial or take away from our community feel at HI-Jasper. Either way, we do appreciate your input. Hope the rest of your travels are wonderful. Ryan, Manager HI-Jasper

It's incovenient to go to downtown unless you have your own car. And it's better if they had lockers and keys.

Antwort des Hostels:
Hello and thanks for your feedback. It is true we are 7kms outside of Jasper. We have a shuttle that runs from 9am - 5pm every day in the summer from town to the hostel. It is $5. As for the lockers, every bed has one. All you have to do is bring a lock or purchase one from the front desk and you can safely store your bags. Hope to see you again soon! Ryan, Manager HI-Jasper
