General neighborhood security is a risk, but Barra Hostel smartly pays a guard to watch the door and street. Very friendly staff.

It my was first time in Salvador, and because of its size and history, i found it overwhelming but thanks to Leila at the hostel who helped me to organise my day trip. In short, i highly recommend this hostel.
