Overall my two night stay was very enjoyable. Travelling on a motorcycle and carrying little food (just biscuits) I thought i might be able to take advantage of the Community Cafe, but was told when i arrived about 3.00pm that the cafe was only serving drinks. Also it doesn't open until 10.00am which perhaps is a little late to catch light travellers like myself as i guess we want to be off on our travels by then. Perhaps the web site might make people aware of the opening times of the cafe.

It's a great place to stay - remote but very comfy. The helpfulness of the lady who let us in could not have been greater.

For the hostel itself I thought it was a good price. What did make it expensive for me was also having to pay a memebership fee for Hostelling International, even though I am a SYHA member and their card bears an HI logo. I am unlikely to stay in another HI hostel this year. And even though I paid a joining fee I don't seem to have a membership card to show to another HI hostel.

The hostel is adjacent to the village shop and teashop, but travellers should be aware that it's very remote. People who arrive late should bring any necessary food items for an evening meal and breakfast. We (two men) arrived at 6.00pm and called through to the Warden, who met us within ten minutes and booked us into our room. The hostel is clean and quiet, equipped with two electric stoves, a refrigerator, microwave and all necessary kitchen equipment, laundry and drying facilities. Bed linen and towels are provided.
