We booked for dorm accomidation and on arrival we were told that we were to share a dorm with another couple and not in single sex dorms as we expected. We then paid extra for a double room. The kitchen seemed well equiped except that the rings on the aged electric cooker were hardly up to reboiling a pan of water filled from a boiling kettle. Without the microwave we would have been unable to heat a meal. I have hosteled for many years and one of the advantage of hosteling over a B&B is that you can save money by cooking your own meals.

It has become apparent over the last fortnight during our LEJoG ride that staying in youth hostels can be more expensive than B&Bs/guest houses, especially when breakfast is added to the cost.

Sorry for my inglisch. The tables and de floor are dirty Whe whant have breakfast, there are not good disses spoons cups, dirty doeks for dry de disses. I hope you do understand my writing.

Hostel response:
The hostel is cleaned from top to bottom on a daily basis and drying cloths are changed regularly throughout the day. However, guests are expected to clean up after themselves but many do not!

Is no easy to find that. I recommended that you put more signals from the Great Glen Way.

Hostel response:
We have 3 signs at the top of the road and we are only 100 metres from the great glen way.

Bedroom (number 3) was cramped. There was no drying room!! Generally the facilities seemed inadequate for the number of people. But everything was well-cleaned and maintained.

Hostel response:
we have the required amount of toilet and shower blocks and lockers for belongings and a large seated area which takes 50 persons and we are only a 40 bed hostel. We have 2 sitting rooms as well.

No drying room, so couldn't get boots properly dry after a day's walking in heavy rain. Staff offered to put boots in the laundry room, but we could only get them back after 8am the following day - too late for our needs. Room was a little crowded (one bunk too many), so very little room for belongings, many of which had to stay in the car

Hostel response:
we hhave an open fire in the living room where guests usually dry wet boots and shoes. Tha laundry and drying room is always locked overnight but opens at 8am or you can get your belongings out at night when they are dry. The child in the came with both parents and was very quiet and well behaved the parents arrived late and had no chice of alternative accommodation as the village was full with tourists I could not turn them away as they had no where else to go.

The staff was very friendly and the room was OK, but there were not enough toilets and showers. The location is OK too.
