Föhr, second largest of the North Friesian islands, is situated 7km from the mainland in the Wadden Sea, Central Europe’s largest national park. The island has preserved its traditional Friesian character with thatched roofs and you hear people speaking the Friesian language everywhere. A great 15km sandy beach stretches along east and south coast while west and north of the island are protected by the sea dyke. Wyk has a lot to offer: crazy golf, wind surfing, trampolines, flights over the island, an adventure pool, a riding stable and at 400m from the hostel the DJH beach. You can walk around the whole island in a single day and mudflat walks are very popular too.
The youth hostel is located on Föhr Island’s southern beach, a 45 min walk from the harbour and only 4 min from the beach. The mud flats, the sandy beach and the typically Frisian character of Wyk are the special attractions of this youth hostel.

| Bus: | By coach or car: A23 and B5 to Bredstedt, then follow signs on the country road to Dagebüll, from there take ferry to Föhr island. |
| Sea port: | Föhr can be reached from Dagebüll ferry terminal (45 min journey); group bus transfer from ferry terminal by Wyker Reederei (boat company, phone 04681-800), luggage transport by Borgert shipping company (phone 04681-2688). |
| Rail: | Train from Hamburg via Niebüll to Dagebüll, from there take ferry to Föhr island. |
