Westensee is situated within a 250 km² nature reserve characterized by rolling fields, meadows, lakes and fens. Westensee is approx. 20km from Kiel and Rendsburg and 30km from Neumünster.
The youth hostel is located on the eastern edge of the village by the lake. It lies within its own large, attractively landscaped grounds offering a lot of space for playing and views of Westensee lake. The next bathing beach is 700m away.

| Rail: | Train to Kiel central station, then bus to Westensee (Autokraft Kiel, telephone 0431-6660). Groups, please contact the hostel in advance. New: Kiel-Rendsburg route to Felde train station (every hour!), then bus to Westensee (see above) or 3.5km walk. |
