Matkailutila Haapamäki is located in a beautiful rural setting in the village of Vaskivesi, about 19 kilometres (12 miles) from the town of Virrat and in the middle of the Finnish Lake District. The long and winding waterways with their numerous canals are a memorable experience for those paddling or sailing in this area. Virrat is a town that has many beautiful villas, and the rich cultural heritage offers plenty to see and do, which makes Virrat a popular destination.
The Haapamäki farm is open from 2 May to 20 October in 2013, and at other times by reservation.
ACCOMMODATION: The main building has seven rooms for 2–4 persons, for 21 beds in all, with shared toilets and showers located in the corridor. The building has a fully equipped kitchen available for guests’ use. There is a television room and lounge in a large log cabin, and the main building has a WLAN connection. Granaries: There are seven insulated granaries with electricity in the yard area, close to the main building. Shared toilets and showers , as well as a kitchen and common facilities are available in the main building Setälä. There is a barbecue shelter in the yard, available for the guests. Kiln cottage: The cottage has four beds in the gallery and one in the main room. It provides a shower and toilet, as well as a kitchenette. Sauna bathing is available at the farm’s lakeside sauna. The covered barbecue area near the main building is also available for guests.
‘Grandma’s cottage’ (Ahomäki) offers accommodation for four people. It provides a shower and toilet, as well as a kitchenette. Sauna bathing is available at the farm’s lakeside sauna. The covered barbecue area near the main building is also available for guests.
We have spacious common facilities that allow for organising events for up to 150 people with meals.
We have many years of experience in organising confirmation camps and school trips. Guests with pets are accommodated in the garden cottages and granaries.
The yard has a playfield for children. A large museum of traditional living is open to groups by appointment. There are a lean-to and a Lappish hut at the foot of the nearby Tuomisto hill.
A sauna by the lakeside invites use with its continuously heated stove, available for use by guests after a brief introduction. The building also has a smoke sauna, available on order, as well as a lounge with a fire place, showers, and a dressing room. For an unforgettable experience, take a dip in the cool lake directly from the hot sauna.
Näsijärvi also offers excellent possibilities for fishing, with stocks of pike, pike-perch and perch. In fact, angling turned out to be a favourite pastime last summer among guests from toddlers to oldtimers. The rowing boats at the lakeside are freely available to our guests.
The lakeside quay makes it possible to arrive by boat from as far away as Tampere. Also, the M/S Kimalle stops at our quay by reservation during the summertime.
