The Tergeste Youth Hostel isn't far from the Castello di Miramare, a very famous place in this area for its impressive historical legacy and for its spectacular view of the calm and clean Adriatic Sea. For a change, though, it's the underwater environment that is most interesting of all. You can take organized classes at the hostel that teach you about the sea so that you will better understand the complex world of the ocean depths. There are also trips to the nearby National Underwater Park. Outdoors types will love the trips to the Giant Cave. Of course, there's also Trieste to explore, a small but noble European capital.

I love the location of this hostel, I think it's the best position in Trieste however it is 9km out of the city making it difficult to get into the city. However the sunsets here make up for the inconvenience. There is no kitchen and limited eateries in this area. Perhaps something should be mentioned on the website (ie to get food from the PAM supermarket before you arrive).

Firstly, the directions of how to get to this place were really vague, so my experience began with getting lost. For the price you'd expect breakfast to be a bit more than crackers and jam. And closing the hostel for 4 1/2 hours a day was a bit over the top when it was so cold. There were no kitchen facilities and this was a real dissapointment. No atmosphere to speak of. To be fair the staff were helpful and the place was clean enough. But it wasn't worth 18 euros a night.

For the location and the price (17 euros at the time of writing), one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. All rooms overlook the beautiful Adriatico sea. The hostel is right there for you to join the Italian sunbathers. It's also a short walk to the bus stop for bus 36, which takes you to the city center (about a 20 minute trip). It's also a 10-minute walk to the ICTP, in case you're there for a conference or so. And it's a 10-15 minute trip to the Miramare castle. They offer breakfast (milk, cookies, bread). The only two things I wasn't too excited about is that 1) they close the place from 10am to 3:30pm, so they kick everyone out during that time, 2) they also have a 12am curfew, so you can't really party in the city until too late.

Hostel response:
Thank you very much, we hope to see you again in our hostel!

Hostel response:
You can't have the sea in the center of the town :) It's strange that you didn't find a place to eat.. there is a pub, a bar, a restaurant/ pizzeria all in less than 20 min walking from the hostel... The restaurant at the hostel is separate from our management. The internet point was broken from some guests, we are working to repair it as soon as possible. For the breakfast: it's italian breakfast not spanish :)

There was a coackroach in the room, as well as there was no wifi. The breakfast was terrible, and the room was very room, with no ventilation whatsoever. Wouldn't recommend it. I liked the location (in front of the beach), and the staff was nice, but for I paid I was expecting better facilities.

Hostel response:
i hope you didn't feel ill with our italian breakfast... there is a 5 star hotel near the hostel... with air condition, breakfast buffet, waiters and obviously higher price than 17,00 eur ;)

Telling guests to be out between 10 and 3:30 is ridiculous. What if someone is not feeling well and just want to sleep? Beautiful surroundings and that is the only good thing I can say about this mess!

Hostel response:
Hi, all the Hostels in Italy has the closing time for the cleaning. If somebody is feeling sick he obviously can stay in the room!! Thanks, Antonio

the closed time at 12 ps is too early :( especially considering the distance from trieste. considering the distance from trieste (ex: non stendere cose alle finestre, senza zone apposite)

Hostel response:
The last bus starts at 23:10 from the city, so you can get in time at the Hostel :)
