Torridon is a magnificent corner of the North Western Highlands with some of the finest mountain scenery in Europe. These formidable mountains, together with the many sparkling rivers and tranquil sea lochs, make up a stark and hostile wilderness. Torridon is an excellent base for mountaineers, as well as those simply wishing to relax and enjoy the marvellous surroundings and wildlife. Situated at the head of Upper Loch Torridon, the Hostel has small comfortable rooms and family rooms. It has its own store, self-catering facilities, two panoramic lounges, an excellent drying room, and can offer well informed local information - all in a superb location. (Good info too at the NTS Ranger & Countryside Centre nearby). Towering immediately above the Hostel is Liathach. At 3456 feet, this is the highest peak in the area and, with its spectacular pinnacles, is one of the most challenging ridge walks in Scotland. Equally enjoyable expeditions may also be taken to Beinn Eighe, Beinn Alligin, Beinn Liath Mor, Sgorr Ruadh, Maol Chean Dearg, and Slioch; some of which lie within the boundaries of the National Trust for Scotland thereby having no access restrictions during the stalking season. There is also an abundance of lower level walks through the many glens and native Caledonian pine forests. Private rooms available.

We found it was a little expensive for a youth hostel No sufficient light in the room we didn't know we had to book the breakfasts, so when we asked for it in the morning they weren't able to provide us with it
