- despite orderering weel ahead : 1. heating was not working. It was winter !!! 2. no possibilty to darken the room (no curtains available). 3. noisy people around. Some rules of quitness after 10pm should be respected. 4. cleaning up outside, behind the reception should be good when people arrive. We left a day earlier and got the promise to be paid back half of the two days immediately upon arrival paid. One advice : better prepare this hostel for winter conditions or only open in summer.

Hostel response:
Thank you for your comment but there's some misinformation in this.
First the heating was and still is working, you were informed that it takes about one hour to warm up, if you turn it off after 15 minutes it's not our fault.
Also we offered sleeping eye masks as the curtains were washing on that week, it was up to you if you use them or not.
Behind the reception was full of papers as we got new equipment for the hostel and we're sorting them out. Sorry for that.
The refund for the night you didn't stay, i got your mail with bank information the day before yesterday so we couldn't make any transfer until now.
As for the other noisy guests, we have to trust other persons and during the night we have no control on what happens in the rooms.
One advice: i know you came to visit the glaciers but they were closed, leaving you with no plans, therefore you had to leave before. Instead of blaming the hostel for wrong reasons please sutdy better the places that you want to visit before.
Once again, thank you for your comment.

The room was clean but the guest kitchen and the dining room could have be better maintained. Anyway, the manager was great !! We were surprised that he had to do so much by himself.

The receptionist is really good! He advised us not to go to see Glacier as we will be disappointed due to the rainy days in July. Good piece of info! Thanks a lot.

While Stryn Hostel is a little bit of a hike from the bus station if you have a pack, it's well worth the walk. The hostel is incredibly comfortable with good food and facilities (excellent fast wifi as well). The best part of the stay was the help from the staff (Thomas and Bruno) who went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us feel welcome.
