This is the first hostel I've stayed in where there wasn't a toilet on the same floor as the bedroom. Given the stairs are uneven and there was a rail one side only (on the side where the stairs were worse) getting up in the night to go was a bit worrying. I noted a sign saying the proemises were monitorred, but it woudl be very easy for anyone to wander in off the street and access any area they wished to. In the morning I looked at the fire escape window, second floor, not secured from the inside and presumably anyone could just lift up from the outside (if they had the inclination to climb up the fire escpe stairs). I was reasonably OK with the bed. I had 2 friends with me who haven't hostelled before and one of them was very umcomfortable in the night. The breakfast was OK, we had to ask for toast, they advised there woudl be continental and cooked but there was only the cooked option. There were a few packets of cheese but nothing to have them with.

the staff were very friendly and helpful. Stow is a very nice little market town, with everything you need in the square, only wish i'd stayed more than one night.
