Due to the oil industry Stavanger is one of Scandinavia´s most cosmopolitian cities. Stavanger´s history dates back to the viking age, and its fortune has largely been built on fishing, canning industry, ship building, and more recently, oil. Old Stavanger is an archeological masterpiece with wooden buildings from the 18th and 19th century.

| I had to leave at 6am so I couldn't have the breakfast. I would wish the bill could exclude breakfast if someone could not make it or offer breakfast earlier. | ||

| My wife and I were not impressed with the service and facilities here, it was easily the worst accommodation we stayed in during our two week travels through the country. When we arrived around check-in time the rooms weren't cleaned yet and there was only one person working, who could not check us in. We had to wait for other staff to arrive by which time there were at least 10 other people also waiting to check-in. The office and service was disorganized and unprofessional on the night we were there. The one positive was it's nice location next to the lake which has a great path around it.
I would definitely try the other hostels in Stavanger first, then guesthouses or budget private accommodations; this hostel would be my last resort in the area. | ||

| Very homely, good basic facilities, very helpful friendly staff, a beautiful quiet peaceful setting that is still quite close to the city centre. | ||

| the location is very difficult to find, following the instrustions given through email. and the bus stop given was wrong, the bus stop is actually near the rica hotel, not the Madlakrossen! we were really lost when we got off Madlakrossen, and took us a long way to walk back! | ||
