The Hostel by Skógar is situated in the old children's school, close to Skógafoss, one of the best known waterfalls in Iceland. Skógar is a popular place surrounded by great and varied nature; glaciers, mountains, black beaches, green acres, forested area, waterfalls and good hiking routes. Additionally, Skógar local museum, is one of the frequently visited of its kind in Iceland. The hostel is a great stop over for those who are hiking over Fimmvörðuháls, which is one of the most popular routes in the country. Skógar are situated in the middle of south Iceland and is therefore ideal for those who want to explore the south of the country. Please note that the next store is 15 km away. Next hostels: Vík 32 km , Fljótsdalur 75 km.

| we came from an hiking in the mountain and we were very tired, we arrived at 11am, we could only enter in our room at 4pm, so we had to pass a raining day outdoor ... you should open before. Bed are very noisy and superposed bed is not good for couple. | ||

| Insgesamt ist die Unterbringung in Hostels in Island gut, jedoch gibt es auch hier Unterschiede. Um einen fairen Vergleich zu ermöglichen, kann ich die Hostels nur miteinander vergleichen. Deshalb befindet sich bei allen 11 Bewertungen diese Einleitung.
Eine freundliche Bedienung ist leider das einzige, was man positiv über dieses Hostel berichten kann. Das hier bereits mehrfach erwähnte Fliegenproblem versucht man mit einer elektrischen Fliegenfalle zu lösen. Die Ursache scheint aber eher ein Sauberkeitsproblem zu sein. In dieser Küche hatte ich spontan keine Lust mehr zu kochen.
Bevor jetzt jemand zu recht erwähnt, dass dies auch am Verhalten der untergebrachten Personen liegt: Ja, mag sein, aber es gibt auch viele andere Stellen, z.B. Dreck auf den Heizkörpern oder Spinnenweben unter der Decke, die ich definitiv nicht zum Bereich der Gäste zählen würde, und dass sind die schlimmen Stellen.
Dieses Hostel würde ich bei der nächsten Reise nicht wieder buchen. | ||

| The building was completely looked up during the day and opened only at 4 p.m. That's not very funny when arriving after a long hike on a rainy day. There isn't even a place to leave your bag.
Since there are no shops nearby it would be nice to offer breakfast. | ||

| It was a very nice hostel and location, with great views of the waterfall. The man in reception was very friendly and helped us even to find accommodation for the next two nights, he was great. | ||
