Best hostel in Sweden 2008! Newly renovated luxury hostel in an old prison in central Stockholm. Stockholm 'Långholmen' hostel offers you a unique hostelling experience. Be inspired with one of HI's 'hostels with a difference' - a former jail hostel! This converted prison hostel is one of the HI network of hostels in Sweden, and one of five hostels in the Stockholm area. Inside this distinctive youth hostel visit the prison museum, illustrating 250 years of prison history. In contrast, take a relaxing stroll in the middle of Stockholm on Långholmen, a beautiful island rich in history. The island is a maze of paths ideal for walking and jogging.

Customer Reviews Stockholm - Långholmen

| I would only interssieren: as the cells were heated before. Did the prisoners bitterly cold.
The idea of rebuilding, a former prison to the hostel and hotel, you have succeeded very great. Without any loss of comfort (rather the reverse: everything was great: Frühstückbüfet, restaurant, bathroom, etc., etc.) still remains the traditional sense of imprisonment. Thank you for your short break in our beautiful hostel. I've already begeitert Mosna many of the Gefängnihostel-Stockholm - Långholmen reported.
kindly

| They have done an excellent job of maintaining the feel of a prison. | ||

| recommended for horror movie fans, really. the prison-turned-hostel has a lot of dummies on the corridor, and as for my stay, it was the low season, so i rarely see anybody else besides me and the dummies. it is definately creepy.
also the place is simply too far away from the metro station, and the signs to the hostel are either picture (not the HI logo) or Swedish, the place is too hard to find. they have clearer version of directions on their broschure, but they did not put it in the direction on the HI website.
But very unique experience indeed. | ||

| Small but good price for Sweden. Something shocking is that they charge for absolutely everything -sheets, towels, cleaning the room after you leave?. It seems £90 a night is not enough in Scandinavia. | ||

| I would NOT choose to stay in this hostel again. | ||
