Come and stay at Hostel Rouen, located in the historic town of Rouen, the historical capital city of Normandy. Renowned for its medieval cobbled streets and antique shops, this is a cultured city with many museums and churches.

Our hostel is located in the city's old Auvray dyeworks factory, which dates back to 1780, and provides accommodation in rooms of 2 – 6 beds. We also offer a range of facilities including a kitchen, laundry, internet access and breakfast, which is included in the price.

Hostel Rouen gives you a good starting point to explore everything Rouen has to offer. Stroll around the old city streets and discover the outstanding architectural heritage; visit the many parks and gardens, including the Botanical Gardens which are free to enter and open all year; or simply take a walk along the river Robec which runs right next to the hostel.

Excellent hostel, with the basic comfort you can expect from a YHA hostel. The location, although a little outside the city center, is easy to reach by metro+bus or on foot (20 minutes). Friendly staff, and very clean rooms and bathroom facilities.

It was easy to get to by bus, but the hostel isn't really located within walking distance to anything interesting. Also, the blankets didn't seem like they were washed enough. Plus, it wasn't really a great deal because they charged for towels and charged 7€ for a HI membership, something that no other HI hostel I've stayed in has done. Not really a good deal for people traveling in groups.

It was relatively easy to find, pretty much just a walk in a straight line from the city centre. It's probably not the best walk to attempt at night, though. I felt uneasy walking through some areas in broad daylight, but I think there's good bus access so that shouldn't be a real problem. The view of the hills was lovely. The staff member who helped us settle in was brilliant. He was very friendly and gave good advice on tourist attractions, and I can only assume that, that extends to the rest of the staff as well.

Thanks to all the staff for a great stay. The hostel is very clean and located next to a small river and has a lovely outlook. The bus stop to the centre is also located right outside the hostel and is called Aurberge de Jenuesse meaning youth hostel in French which makes it easy to remeber and find.

The signage to the auberge was rather poor. For a one-year old building there were several things (lighting and windows) which were in need of replacement or major overhaul. Generally, though, I enjoyed an excellent stay.

It is a pity they were short staffed, so no morning reception and very limited breakfast when we visited. When our access cards stopped working we were left out in the cold banging on the doors! Nice clean modern hostel though
